I agree with Tiffany, you don't have to have the traditional guest book, you could have something else that would remind you and your FH of your special day and make your mother happy at the same time. You can buy picture mattes to sign, I've seen large plates too. If it is such a big deal to your mother, make her in charge of it and then you don't have to worry about it, and she'll be happy.
