A guest book is not a neccessity, but I can't imagine a couple wanting something to remind them of those who shared their day with them. If cost is an issue, the idea's above are great, but a small guest book is really not that expensive.

I would go with some form of guest book, no matter how small the wedding in the future I think you would be glad you did.
