06/07/08 This would be my second marrage. I do have a horrible delema to face. My father reciently died, I am going to have enough trouble getting through this without his knowledge or advice. Please help, how do I make it down the isle without him, or crying? I thought about asking an uncle but I dont want to "replace" him that way. I am not that close to any of his brothers anyway. What about my son from my first marrage -or is that not right to my future husband? Help

Well you could ask your mom to walk you down the aisle. I've seen this, but also your son is a good idea, and I don't think it would be wrong to your new husband. Cuz when a father gives away his daughter he's giving her away to someone new to love and cherish her and take care of you. And your son who's been there will be basiclly doing the same thing. And if they get along with each other I don't see why there would a problem. I'm sorry to hear about your dad But he'll still be there watching. Good luck

What about a grandpa or mom's brother?? You wouldn't be replacing him, they wouldn't be able to fill the shoes. But no matter what i think you might still cry not exactlly for him but just for the happiness that moment brings

My father passed away when i was 15. We had him cremated, and on my wedding day, im having a special necklace made that will old some of his ashes. That way my dad is with me when i walk down the aisle. Maybe you can have something of his on you when you get married. It will be like a piece of your dad is there with you the whole time.

I think your son giving you away would be perfect. I bet your dad and your son both hold a very special place in your heart so instead of thinking of it as "replacing" your dad, think of it as finding a fitting person to temporarily stand in his place.
Also, I saw on a wedding show that a couple whose fathers had both passed paid tribute to them by having their wedding rings (or other jewelry) melted down and made into their own wedding bands. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Best Wishes to you and your new family. |
