Bubbles!
I'm having an outside wedding and instead of rice (cos well I just think its old fashioned) I'm having bubbles instead. Now...how do I go about distributing them? I was thinking about having my flower girl do it after the ceremony since everyone is supposed to exit before I do. Any other ideas? Help!

Re: Bubbles!
There are quite a few things to consider here. The key is getting your guests to notice them, and directing them when to use them.
Getting them to notice:
The flower girl idea is a good one...as long as they're old enough to understand the duty, and that they won't be bombarded by a mob of people all at once. If you plan on ushering/greeting your guests yourself, the flower girl should work. If you're going to have them ushered out and greet them in a gathering area, this can result in a 'people pile-up.' The flower girl would probably have a difficult time getting the attention of everyone in the moving mass. An alternative could be placing two baskets, one on either side, of the main exit I know I've been to weddings where I didn't realize I was supposed to have a send off favor (bubbles/rice/...) until I was standing outside, because the favor wasn't on the side I exited.
Letting them know when to use it:
A little sign letting telling the guests know when to use it could be placed above each basket, or in a banner above the exit. Something cute like..."Start blow'n when we come a stroll'n'." Then have someone like the best man announce your exit. With bubbles...if you just start out the door, you're going to be making your getaway before the first bubble even hits the ground.

If you have another child who you would like to involve in the wedding, since your flower girl already had a "job" to do, you might do that. Or you could have them in baskets on a table as people exit the ceremony and they can just take one themselves.

Re: Bubbles!
You could have them in a container by the guest book with a sign on the front that tells them what they are for and they can pick them up after signing in.

Re: Bubbles!
Another idea to distribute bubbles, would be to tie them with ribbons in your wedding colors to your wedding programs, and have them accessible when your guests walk in. Either your ushers could hand them out, or you could easily fill baskets with them.

Re: Bubbles!
Warning about bubbles! They have possibilities of staining your dress. I know somebody who did bubbles at their ceremony and now has bubble spots on their dress that won't go away. It doesn't alway happen like this, but I thought I'd throw out the warning.

Re: Bubbles!
We had bubbles at our wedding. We had the ushers give them out as everyone entered the church......

Re: Bubbles!
If you have someone manning the guest book at the back of the room, you could have him situated to the side of the aisle so that when people leave, he/she could have them all pick up one of the bubble containers. I liked the idea of the sign, too!

Re: Bubbles!
We too are planning on doing bubbles at our wedding. Does anyone have any ideas of a little note to put on the bubbles. I like the "start blow'n when we come a stroll'n" but I was just curious if anyone else had seen any other cute signs/notes on or with bubbles.
As far as where to put them. Every wedding I've been too, they either had a basket by the guest book or by the exit. I also like the idea of letting some of the other children you may know pass them out. My only concern with passing them out is I know there are some people who just won't want to do it, ya know what I mean? Thats why I like the idea of having them in a basket where the guests can take them.

Re: Bubbles!
I had a 2 nieces hand them out to the guests outside the church while we were taking pictures...When we exited the church...it was bubbles bubbles everywhere.
Don't worry, it will work out fine...most guests are starting to expect bubbles!
