How to import AVCHD(MTS or M2TS files)to Windows Movie Maker

As we know that many editing software applications on Windows can not support AVCHD format (MTS or M2TS), sometimes it might cost more than we spent on our camcorders to edit AVCHD files. How to make it? If you are Windows XP or Vista users, now there is an easy solution which can realize it: Edit AVCHD files on Windows Movie Maker.

Windows Movie Maker is a free video creating/editing package that comes with both Windows XP and Vista (Windows 7 support now). It enables work with HD video footage, but the key problem is that it can not import the AVCHD files directly. Generally, Windows Movie Maker now accepts WMV, ASF, MPG (MPEG-1), AVI (DV-AVI), WMA, WAV and MP3. Additionally, the Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate editions of Movie Maker support importing MPEG-2 Program streams and DVR-MS formats.

For Windows Movie Maker can not accept AVCHD, you have to use a third program like a good video converter or MTS/M2TS converter which is designed to convert ACVHD to WMV/ASF/MPG/AVI/WMA, etc workable to Windows Movie Make to help you free edit the AVCHD videos from your camcorder on Windows Movie Maker.

Part one: How to convert AVCHD to Windows Movie Maker

Free download video converter, run it. Load the AVCHD files into this converter program and then select the output settings for your Windows Movie Maker, like selecting WMV as output format.

Click the "Start" button to start converting AVCHD video to Window Movie Maker. Within several minutes, you can get the converted files on your computer by clicking the "Open" button.



Part two: How to import the WMV files converted from the ACVHD files into Window Movie Maker?

First of all, make sure you installed the Windows Movie system. If for some reason, you haven’t got one, just go to Windows XP: Movie Maker 2.1 Download (for Windows XP) orDownload details: Windows Movie Maker 2.6 (for Windows Vista) to download for free.

Now, run Windows Movie Maker. Click the "File" – "Import" to select the converted files, then you'll see the WMV file in your Windows Movie Maker "Collections". You can free edit your AVCHD files on Windows Movie Maker for your reference.

I recently got one Sony HDR-XR200V Camcorder I want to convert the files from m2ts to MKV I have SONY Vegas but MKV Vegas isn't there. I basically want to convert m2ts file into a more common video formats, how to do?
So I searched internet and found a best video converter and shared here.
