Quick question:

Originally, I wanted both my mom and dad to walk me down the aisle. I am close to both of my parents and thought it would be a nice way to honor both of them. Theeeeeeeeeeeeen, this past weekend when I bought my wedding dress (YEH!) the consultant made a good point, she said - if you're doing the unity candle... that's mom's job before the bridal party walks down the aisle.... She asked "are you going to have her walk up, do the candle, then walk back to walk you down again?"

Any suggestions? Or should I just go back to the traditional dad and daughter walking down the aisle?

My brother's wedding went slightly different as far at the Unity Candle goes. The wedding party walked up and then a minute or two into the ceremony the priest asked the parents to come up and light the unity candle. The dads lit the lighting sticks and then the moms lit the two taper candles. Talk to your officiant before making any decision about whether or not mom can walk you down the aisle.

i must say, i like that idea myself about how the moms doin it later.. cuz actually, my dad's not in my life, so for me..there was no choice, my mom has been there for me and shes the right person to walk me down. and i was confused about how we would do the candle.

i wonder how our priest will feel about it - i like doing things differently. one of my biggest goals in starting this whole planning process was to be as NON-cookie cutter as possible!!!

so this will be another great change!

I am close to my mom and also dad - I am going to have my mom walk in as usual and light the unity candle and take her seat. Then my dad will walk me down the asile. He may actually meet me halfway due to him being handicap and can only walk so far. Then I will reach out for my mom and she will stand with me to give me away. This will also help her support my dad to get him to his seat.
