I would have someone else take pictures of you while you try it on...then you decide for yourself.
I think this dress works on that model because the bottom is big and she is itty bitty and kinda perched on top of that ball gown bottom.

It is just my opinion but i think the optimal shape goal for plus size should be hourglass. most plus size girls have the hips and the shoulders...why not make a waist or show yours off and just be a larger version of the perfect figure?

I would think more about showing off your best features. An A-line dress is more flattering for plus sizes. anything that cuts in the middle of you if your short, is going to make you look shorter and prob. bigger. Empire waist (under the boobs) makes you look taller. Pleats are the devil. I say again....the devil. ( i don't even understand why they make plus size dresses with pleats on the waist. )
anything that is cut like the one dress above with the over-lay in the V shape is awesome because it creates the illustion of a narrower silloette. (bad speller!)

but the bottom line is, its not the dress that will make you look beautiful on your day, its your level of comfort and happiness. when you radiate happiness and confidence it makes everyone watch your face-not the dress. and if this dress is going to do that for you...then you've found the one.

good luck to you. i'd love to see the results.

I found a chart in a magazine and had cut it out to use when I go into a bridal shop. It shows different types of dress styles and describes what style is best for each body shape. It says for curvy/pear shaped women either a princess, A-line, or ball gown compliments our shapes best. The dress you like, looks like it's a ball gown. But really, no one can say it'll be good for you until you try it on. I went into David's Bridal with a specific dress in mind, but it ended up looking like crap on me lol. The dress that looked best on me and made me look the skinniest was a halter A-line ~ and I origionally never considered that style dress. So, you never know. And for all you curvy women out there, don't let the dress size freak you out, because they do run bigger. They ask you what your jean size is, and I'm usually an 18. But in dress sizes, that's usually a 22. And I even had to try on some dresses in a 24! It is a big blow at first, but just remember that it's the dress maker's fault lol.

Iam a fellow plus size girl!!
Iam a size 22 in my dress...and this is the dress I have bought.
You definately have to try them on.. I chose many gowns online before going in.. and NONE of them looked good. Then I tried this one... not one I would choose off the hanger..but put it on and felt like a princess!
Good luck... i think the dress you chose is sooo pretty! Have ya tried it on?

I too am a plus size...I strongly urge you to make a day of it at a bridal salon trying on the different styles. I ended up buying a style I thought I would never choose. You really need to see how they look on you.

Hey Rachael
That dress is beautiful! I'm sure you look like a princess too! But see now, this is exactly what we're talking about. I am a 22 in a dress as well, and so is my cousin. We went together to try on dresses (she's getting married 6 months before me). She tried on this exact dress that you picked out and it looked awful on her. Even though we're all the same size, our bodies are shaped differently. It really is amazing how the same dress in the same size can look like crap on one person, then absolutely perfect on another. Hands down....gotta try em on before making a decision!

I agree you really should try them on. I am plus sized too. I picked out a dress from their book and tried it on and it didn't fit right at all. Turns out wasn't the dress for me. Also right now Davids is having a sale until March 31st. some dresses for $99 and others have $$$ off. How much off depends on how much the dress originally cost.

My wife shopped around and was glad she did. She is a plus size woman and found a great dress designer.
