Default debate w/2 dresses(pics)

ok, I was engaged 2 years ago to a different guy. I never wore the dress, nor did anyone see it(other than women). So, i kept the dress. When i bought it, it was exactly what i was looking for and dreamt of. it was the first and last dress i tried on. heres the thing. my fiance's ex wife had something of the same. not really, but her dress too came off the shoulder like mine. so for his family, i'm afraid they will think my dress "looks like hers" should i keep it??

and here's the other thing. like i said, i love my dress. but its 2 years old..actually i think the style is older than that. but, it seems that this style dress is "IN" and its actually grown on me. should i get this one?? not this dress itself, but this style of gown.

HELP!

I think that if you have got a dress that you love, there isn't really a reason to get another. I think that the dress you have has a timeless elegance to it (so who cares what current trends are!) Also I wouldn't be bothered what your fiancee had at his previous wedding, and what his previous bride wore. People are not gooing to look at you as you walk down the aisle and say "gee, that looks like the ex's dress" they are going to be thinking about how gorgeous you look and how happy they are for you. If they don't then it is their issue.

i would NOT go with a dress that "grew on you"

GO WITH THE ONE YOU LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i agree with restingdonkey, no one will even REMEMBER or CARE that it is a similar style to his ex!!! they are going to be TOOOOOOO busy being in awe of your beauty. and as far as the style is concerned, it is by no means outdated!!! in fact, you will see SO many brides in the pick-up style (your 2nd choice, and personally --- i would prefer standing out and being different!)

good luck on making your decision!!!!

i love both . . . i think you should go to the bridal store and bring your dress you have and try the 2nd one on . . . you should feel the dress you need to be happy in it . . . i like both of them though!

Well.... its your wedding.. and you should really go with the dress that you love!
i think I like the second one best... but I too have a pick up dress with the sweet heart neckline just like this one pictured second!
go with what ever one makes you happy.... who cares about anything else!

I think they are both really pretty, but in my opinion, I would go with the one you already have! Why pay for something else, if you already have one you love? I don't even remember the dresses the brides wore at the weddings I have attended. The first one is a very classic look, and is very sophisticated. It is much more unique at this time than the other one, which, as you can tell from the other posts is a very popular style. I would bet that no one will even remember his ex wife's dress.

I think both dresses would look beautiful, but if you already have a dress you love, why not keep it? If you are worried about the off-the-shoulder style being similar to his ex'es maybe you could take it back to the bridal shop you got it from, and for a small fee, have the straps taken off. The bridal shop I am working with told me that pretty much any dress that has staps, they can be take off, and pretty much any dress that doesn't have straps can have them added.
