Default Buying a wedding dress online? Which one?

I have a friend that referred me to the website My Dream Wedding Dresses The women is a friend of a friend who owns it, so I trust buying from her. They do have measurements and up close pictures but what do all of you think about buying a wedding dress online? They do have good deals with 50 - 80% off and free shipping. I love a few of the dresses and they really are a good deal. What does everyone else think about buying a dress without actually seeing it or trying it on in person? Most bridal shops I have gone to don't have my size anyway because I am not the standard 8 or 10. I have looked at a few other websites but the pictures weren't as close up and they only had one view. I also want to help a friend out. I guess I am just wondering if anyone else is willing to take the risk of buying online? The dresses that I really like are the Selena, HunterLynn and the Ginger. They are located in the best sellers section. Which one do you like best?

I'm sorry I don't really have advice about buying a dress online, I have no experience with it and don't know anyone who has either. But I thought I'd give my opinion on your dresses, which are all beautiful by the way!
My favorite was the Ginger because I'm a sucker for that soft, elegant look. Second favorite was the Selena and third was HunterLynn.
I think as long as you have somewhere you may be able to have alterations done locally, you know the site and people are reputable, then it may be worth a shot
Good luck!

I'd be careful about buying a dress online. David's Bridal lists several dresses available with different colors online but when I went to the store they told me that the dress I wanted is discontinued and they don't manufacture it anymore! So imagine the hassle trying to order it online!

If you trust the website, I don't see why you couldn't order it online, but I would recommend you understand the return and exchange policy very well, order the dress WELL in advance to make sure it's there in time, and scope out alteration shops just in case.

I hope that helps. I really like the Ginger!

I bought my Alfred Angelo from a bridal store on Ebay named Just Pretty Bridals (in New York). It came within 5 weeks and I got it for half the price that it would have been at a bridal store here in Toronto. Since then I have ordered my veil and two bridesmaid dresses from them. They are awesome.

just a clarification to my post above... I tried the dress on at a bridal shop here and bought the same style # online. That said, I would never buy a wedding dress that I did not try on, that's just way too risky. I would suggest getting one with a corset back if you are ordering without trying it on..at least that way there is some room for error to tighten or loosen.

I think buying online is a great idea. Granted, you will want to be very careful with measurements, size selection, color choice, delivery time frame and all that. I would NEVER order from a website that you couldn't contact by phone. Make sure that they have a good track record and call or email if you have questions so that you feel comfortable ordering something so important online.

I've been shopping at TJ Formal and I'm pretty sure I've found my dress!!! I've been in contact with them and have been really happy with their service so far!
