Question Enough time

My wedding date is 09-04-09. Now, I already know the exact dress I want. I'm planning on actually purchasing it next spring. Does everyone think that is a good amount of time before the wedding?

Thumbs up Re: Enough time

You should have plenty of time. I would suggest asking the location you’re buying from how long it takes to ship, and how long alterations and cleaning take. After you have that time frame chose when to buy your dress from that.

the designer may stop making it by that time! It's a good amount of time beofre the wedding, but if you like a certain dress I would order it now, just in case. My dress got discontinued and now we have to alter the sample.

Yeah, that is the main thing I'm affraid of. Especially because my dress is actually a test dress for that particular store. But the associate that was helping me the day I tried it on, said if she hears that it's going to be discontinued then she'll give me a call. So, I'm not too worried about it, but it's still at the back of my mind.

thats nice of her!
Yeah, my salesperson didn't know my dress was discontinued until AFTER I said it was the one. Also, if she sells the sample, she can't really tell the other bride no, and make you run down, right?

That sucks lol.
I would hope she doesn't do that. I don't even have a car! lol
My MOH wants me to go and check out the place where she got her dress from. I guess I don't mind going just to see what they have, but I almost don't want to because what if I end up liking another dress just as much? Then I'll be in a pickle, trying to decide which one I should go with. It's like taking a step back from where I already am. I've only gone to try on dresses once and that day I probably tried on like 5 dresses. I was very surprised that I found a dress I absolutely loved the first time. It was almost too easy lol. My dress is from David's Bridal ~ but it's not on the site or anything cause like I mentioned, it's a test dress. The only thing I'm not crazy about, is the price. It's 600, which isn't all that bad ~ but then once I start with alterations and such, that damn thing is gonna to like 800! I didn't want to spend that much. So, maybe this place my MOH wants me to check out had something similar to the one I want now and a less expensive price.

With your dress being at David's Bridal you may just want to wait until their $100 sales. There should be one coming soon they do them like 4 times a year.

I think they actually have one going on right now. I've also recieved emails of 'coupons' to take $300 off select in store only gowns. So, that's also something I can check out. I just hope my rare dress would be included in either of those deals.

Well, I think it is...

But of course, you have to consider the time spent if it doesnt fit you or something.

So better take the earliest possible time to buy it.
