Question Should I settle on a dress to save $$

My mom works with this woman who actually won a "drawing" for her dream wedding which included a dress. She obviously only wore the dress once and it is beautiful.

When my mom told her that I was getting married she offered to sell me the dress for $50. How can you beat that? It's basically free!!

She sent me pictures tonight and it is a gorgeous dress, however it isn't exactly what I had in mind. So my question is should I settle for the dress just because I am getting it for a steal or should I gracefully decline and go ahead and buy my dream dress??

I say dream dress. You never know if it will look good on you or even fit you! She most likely had it altered to fit her exactly, and you never know if it will be possible to fit it to you because of those alterations.

If your budget is low, then maybe you should go for it, but if you are willing to let go of some things for you dream dress, I would do it!!

I say try on the dress before making an decisions (if it's possible for you to try it on first). You may have an idea of what your dream dress is, but you may not even like how it looks on you. That's what happened to me. I had a specific kind of dress in mind but then when I tried it on, it looked like crap on me lol. So, at least try on the $50 dress....you may be surprised.

Question Re: Should I settle on a dress to save $$

Yeah, my mom lives in Louisville, KY. I am going up there for the 4th of July so I can try it on then. I know it may already be to big, it is a size 14, but I figured I can have that taken in.

If I like it I will bring it back with me, if not I can leave it at my parents or bring it back and "re-sell" it.

Essentially this is the dress I want

I love the "princess cut" But I haven't tried any on yet, so you are right it may not look good on me...

Does anyone know what that fabric that the bottom of the dress is made of?

I agree with Mandy. I think you should atleast go try it on and see what you think. A lot of women have their dream dress in mind but when they go and try on their dream dress it's not what they thought at all. I would try ont he $50 and see, maybe you will like it.

I agree on the other posts, try it on but don't buy it right away go and look for other dresses. You could find one that ou ike better. The fabric on the dress I believe t is tulle.
