My fiance's aunt has offered to host an engagement party for us in her yard, once the weather gets nicer (which is swiftly approaching). The thing is... my fiance is not all that fond of them. Nor does his family get along any day of the year except Christmas (and that is questionable sometimes).
When she offered (Christmas time) he took the fast way out and said he would have to talk to me. But now she is wanting an answer, I don't want to make them angry, but I can't see such an event going over well. Is there a way to get out of it without raising too many tempers or lying?

Hi im new to this site so i hope i dont affend u by answering this question. I think that there no way out of it with out lieing or causing a confusion so maybe you should just tell her you and your husband to be decided to throw the party yourself or you decided to not have one.

Thanks, I'm not sure what will end up happening. We have a long engagement, so i'm sure lots of events will happen.
