Are you keeping your last name or changing it?
I just read this interesting article on SavvyMiss.com about the debate over whether you should take on your husband’s last name once you get married! Great opinions, but I’m still torn! Take a look by following this link: Should a Woman Take Her Husband's Name? - Savvy Miss.com |

I'm taking my fiance's name. Not that there's any kind of correlation, but the women I know that didn't change their names ended up in divorce. That's not why I'm doing it, though. I see marriage as creating a new life together and starting a family. Whether he takes your name or you take his, I think it creates a better union to have the same last name. I'm pretty traditional too so I'm taking his last name.

I am taking my fh's last name. I think that taking his name or adding his name to yours or comming up with a new one all together adds unity to the family. I don't think that I would like us having two different last names after we were married.

My Finacee is from Lybia and there the women keep their name, so it doesn't matter to him. I REALLY love my name, and it is really ethnic Elena(eh le n ah) Pilar (pee l are) Ortiz (or tease), His name is Elfergani (fer jan ee), so I am still not sure, but I do know I don't want to have a different last name than my children.

I decided that I was actually going to hyphenate my last name and my fh's name. The only reason for this is because I hae an eight year old son who has my last name. He also has a son that has his last name. So to keep my son from possibly feeling left out we came up with the decision to hyphenate. Now if my fh were to adpot my son then I would drop my name alltogether because we would all then have the same last name.

I haven't read that article and I'm not sure I want to see possible reasons to keep my last name (Wright). I'm old-fashioned when it comes to that, I guess, so I have no problem taking his last name (Hurd).
Besides, I'd get bored if I was a Wright all my life! ![]() |
