Red face Re: Picking the date

My Fiance and I put all 12 months in a hat, and picked one. October...
Then we lookes at the calendar, and put all the Saturdays in a hat, 11th
Then I told my Mom, the date and she said that 10/10 was my grandparent's wedding anniversary, so we are getting married on 10/10/08, as that would have been (my grandmother is a widow) my grandparent's 75th wedding anniversary!
hope it helped a little

Here are somethings that I thought about when planning my wedding.
~What season do you want to get married?
~ Do you want an inside or outside wedding?
~ Is there a place that you are set on having the wedding at?
~ Are there going to be alot of people traveling to the wedding?
~ Are there any dates that someone important will not be able to make it?

When we decided to pick a date we wanted in in September. We actually wanted September 15 since that is the date we got engaged. After talking to some of the people in our wedding party we found out that on the 15th my little cousin (which is one of our ring bearer) was in another wedding (his other cousins) so that crossed out the 15th. So when we looked at the other dates is September my MOH is in her boyfriend's sisters wedding on the 29th. That left us with the 1st (labor day weekend), the 8th and the 22nd. When we went to look at a place to have the wedding we fell in love with the place. The only day they had left was the 1st. So that is how we picked our date.

I REALLY wanted a Fall wedding-- October would have been my top pick-- because that's my favorite season. But he proposed in July, and the Fall of 2007 was too soon for certain reasons. We did, though, have to plan for before his brother was going to be deployed to Iraq next year, and we weren't given an offical date for when that was taking place. I didn't want a winter wedding. We ended up picking April 12th, because his brother is likely not leaving until after then. April was definitely on the lower end of my list, because the weather is so unpredictable, among other reasons... but this was when it worked out.

We had to look at the logistics... who the important people that we wanted to attend, and when they were available (in this case, his brother); what the average weather is like, so that out of state relatives can attend with as little travel problems as possible; if it was available at the church; etc.

Ahh, MeganAnn, I just read that article... it says don't pick the weekend before April 15th-- tax day!! Too late...

Unfortunately, picking the date doesn't seem to be up to the bride and groom anymore. For instance, when it came to pick our wedding date, we had originally picked November 18, 2006. Now mind you, it was 2004 when we set this date, and when we went to the Reception site, even though it was 2 years in advance, our date was booked. I was bent on having a fall wedding, and the ONLY fall date available in 2006 was September 30th -hence, my wedding date!

I would pick a theme, pick the type of clothing you want to wear, and then pick a season that supports it the most comfortably. Then pick a reception hall and see what they have available within those guidelines.
