Exclamation Major change

Well, anyone who has read any of my posts knows my origional wedding date was set for 10-9-10. NOW, I'm pretty sure my fiance' and I are getting married 9-4-09 ! I really wanted to move it up a year because my grandmother hasn't been doing all that well. I just know in my heart she wouldn't make it to 2010. I thought there would be a better chance by changing to 2009. My other grandparents are up there in age as well ~ I think 84 and 85 years old. I would be devistated if none of them were around for my wedding. With that being my biggest reason, we also figured having it a year sooner meant things wouldn't be quite as expensive as in 2010.
We also may not being having the wedding at the farm I've been talking about for the past 4 months lol. I still really love the idea of the farm, but I am just so paranoid about bad weather because the owner has no backup plan for that. God forbid it rained that day ~ everything would be ruined. And also moving the date to the first weekend of September means it will probably still be pretty damn warm out. I don't want to be all sweaty in that dress lol. So, we're now thinking about having it in a local restaurant. It has an outdoor space with a gazebo and a lake behind it, so we can still have the ceremony outside ~ provided it's nice weather. I just feel so much better knowing we have a place indoors in the event of rain.
It's just crazy how much changes by switching the date. I'm really feeling the pressure now to get things booked lol. And my whole Fall theme is out the window because it'll be too warm for that. I probably wouldn't even be able to get pumpkins yet! lol. But anyways, that is what has been going on with me lately. Thank you for letting me vent ladies.

Thumbs up Re: Major change

When I get married, I will have been engaged for 10 months. If we had set our wedding date as far in advance as yours was, I would go bonkers! This 10 months has been stressful enough, I can't imagine dragging it out for a few years.
Personally, I would be relieved to have a closer date.
Don't worry, you still have plenty of time to figure everything out and it will be as wonderful as your original plan.
Best of luck to you

Yeah, I was going nuts lol. I'm the type of person that tries to plan everything to the T , but it was so difficult with it being so far off. I would get price quotes, but then knowing everything goes up over the years. Then of course there was a guest list issue. People I would invite right now, but who's to say I'd still be in contact with them in 2010. It's hard planning a wedding that way. I am relieved it's closer now, but it's just the fact that we have to start booking right now when just last week, before we made the decition to change the date, I didn't have to worry about booking till next year. Whew...lol. "I will survive"

I know two couples that got married in the middle part of September, 15/16th ish and they both still did a fall theme wedding. It was funny because they got married a year apart, their weddings were the same weekends (1 year apart), they had the same church, hall, DJ, theme, colors. Both weddings turned out really nice though. I don't remember if they had pumpkins but I know they had corn stalks and indian corn. Your weekend if probably Labor Day weekend, right? The "unofficial" start of fall so I think the fall theme would still work for ya.

I also agree with Tiffany, I think a closer date will make things easier on you for planning. My fiance and I got engaged in February and our date is 7.11.09 and all my friends think that is a long engagement!
