Re: Which kids to exclude
On the inner and outer envelopes for your invitations, simply write down who is invited.
I have co-workers who we're inviting, who also have children.
On the envelope, I wrote, Mr and Mrs. So-and-so.
For family and friends who I was fine with bringing children, I had Mr and Mrs So-and-so and Family.
People are usually smart enough to know what this means.
I cannot stress enough, DO NOT put "no children allowed" or anything of the sort. This will definitely offend people and make them not want to come.
If you really do not want children at all, make your wedding either very early in the morning or late in the evening. Parents will not want to bring their children to an event that super early or late, it's just incovenient.
But, you said you wanted children there, just family. If this is truly the case, go by my first bit of advice and you should be fine.
