I was at a bridal show where they're were proffesional make up artists. I was thinking of getting one for I'm very light skinned with dark circles under my eyes {which are natural and I got from every other female in my family} and nice pink cheeks. I cover these up very nicely myself but I was thinking for my photos so they look good if I should hire someone. Would it be worth it?
Also, I was told pictures are now done before the wedding. And I should hire someone for them but not my wedding day. When did this start? I thought the groom wasn't supposed to see me in my gown till the wedding. |

I think if you want pictures of just you, they do them before hand, but the moments of everyting else should still be on that day. especially with him!!!!! And family and brides maids etc. but maybe just special ones of you if you want before hand

that's what I thought. I never heard of such a thing for the groom to see the bride before the wedding. I wouldn't want pictures of just me. I feel theres no point in me dressing up and getting all pretty just for a few pictures.

You might not want to hire someone because every time I have gotten a makover, I didn't like what it looked like and edded up washing it off. Maybe you could just get a consultant to give you pointers and tips and help you conceal your problem areas. I have also never heard of the bride seing the groom before so maybe you should talk to a different photographer who can take the pix after you say I do!

I am a makeup artist and let me tell you I have had people really regret not hiring a professional. If you dont like what one MUA does for you, then look else where. Not every MUA is for you. Hope I have helped, Yisell Welcome to yisellsantos.com contact@yisellsantos.com |

Doing it yourself will save money, but having it done professionally may make you feel that much more special. You've got the beautiful dress, the incredible hair and the jewellery, why not treat yourself to some prof. make up. I would suggest going to the make up artist and doing a test run before the wedding. Explain to the artist that you want it to look very natural. If you're not happy, find someone else to do it. Spending that time to have it done gives you little more time to relax and feel pampered on your special day.
I've actually seen a few weddings where the bride and groom have pictures taken prior to the ceremony, to save the wait time between the ceremony and reception. That way the guests don't get bored waiting for all the photos to be taken. I agree with all the other postings though, I don't want my hubby-to-be to see me before I walk down the aisle. Our best friends got married last summer and she had close to an hour photo shoot with just her, her parents and the bridesmaids once they were all ready and prior to the ceremony. They also had pics taken while getting ready. The photographer's assistant spent the day with the guys while they were getting ready. The candids during this time were incredible and they captured some moments that would have otherwise been forgotten in the bustle of the day. If you want to see some of the shots that were taken prior please send me an e-mail... maybe give you some ideas.... l_huxtable@hotmail.com Last edited by lisahux : 05-08-2007 at 08:00 PM. |

All of the weddings I have been to lately have had pictures beforehand. Mine will be as well BUT my brother is my photographer and he and my SIL are going to make sure the moment we see each other is private. That's what was done at their wedding and they have no regrets.
I am also having a Mary Kay consultant come over to my house next weekend to help figure out make up. I struggled with whether to hire someone or do it myself and I decided on doing it myself. saves money!! |

The great thing about Mary Kay is their products, so even if you spend the same amount on make up as haveing a makeup artist do it, you will still have great make up after the big event!! Its a great idea.
