Just do what you think you'll end up liking the most! Veils really can be expensive, but if it's important to your mom and you don't really like it, don't worry about it, and just wear one You could also ask your fiance if he likes one or not. That would help!

I had my mind made up that I was not going to wear a veil. I have long hair and was going to just wear a low-key tiara and have "romantic" curls put in my hair... Then I had a dress fitting and a consultant at the store had me try it with a veil. It was a simple, but elegant veil that just brought the whole look together and really made me feel like a bride.
I didn't buy their veil for $140, but I got a beautiful one off eBay for only $20. The choice is yours and only yours to make; you know what will make you happy. If you want the best of both worlds, just wear the veil for your ceremony and remove it before the reception.
