Hi ladies.

Sorry to be 100% clueless here but what's the norm out there? Do I hire someone to come to my venue while me and the girls are getting ready to do our hair and makeup or do we all go there? How much does all this typically cost? I'm getting married about an hour from where I live and don't know anyone where I'm getting married so do I bring hair people from around where I live or make the trip down and get some trials down near where I'm getting married? I'm so lost!

well, you could try out some salons where your wedding is going to be or if you have a salon that you go to on a regular where you stay you can see if your hair dresser would make the trip to where your wedding is going to be and see if he/she is going to charge you for traveling to your location. Me personally i would have my hair stylist come to where the wedding is going to be because he knows my hair.

I think you should find a place near the place you'll be married. You may think you'll have plenty of time on your wedding day to get ready, but you'll be surprised to see how quickly the time passes. The easier the better.

Mostly the choice has to do with budget. If you have someone come out to the site, there will be a higher cost involved than going into a salon to have your hair done. I would say that if at all possible use a stylist near the wedding site (just in case of any traffic or other issues that may delay your stylist from arriving on time)

I think it would be good to have someone that you or one of your bridesmaids are familiar with. Let's hope they do a good enough job to last more than an hour.

I found someone who is actually coming to my parents house to do all of our hair and make up. I figured it'll be so nice not to have to run out that morning...I'll have enough on my mind!

If you are particulary attached to a hairstylist in your area, I would see if they would be willing to travel to come do your hair. Like others said, this is going to cost a bit more. Otherwise, I would find someone in the town where you are getting married. Do you have any friends or family that are originally from that town who may be able to recommend someone?
