Default Makeup

I am a big fan of the classic makeup look with the thin black eyeliner in the top and red lipstick. My dress is white with red accents. Would that look good? In my head it looks good, but I have a harder time finding shades of red lipstick that go well with my skin tone. I have a very light skin tone. And I was also thinking of individual fake lashes because I dont have a lot of eyelashes. Any suggestions??

You're in luck cos not only am I a bride to be but I'm also a makeup artist. For the day of your wedding you want to look soft. Just because your dress has red accents doesnt mean that you have to wear red lipstick. That's kinda like saying "well my dress has blue accents so I have to wear blue shadow."

Also, is the "classic" look something you wear everyday? If so, you might want to go with something different. You dont want to look like you do everyday for your wedding. Yes you still want to look like you but a bit more enhanced.

Having one focal point is the way to go (either eyes or lips) - Never both. Then you'll have too much going on and end up looking what I call "drag". Lashes is something I always recommend. They enhance and open up the eyes.

If you'd like for me to send you some examples of wedding makeup, send me a personal message or email me at contact@yisellsantos.com.

Hope I helped

My future SIL wore almost no makeup on her wedding day because she wanted to look like herself and not all dolled up. Result: very bad pictures and a not so beautiful-bride. Of course she was radiant from her excitement (and it was a hot August day), but her pictures looked very bare and unpolished. However, had she gone the complete other way, she would've looked at those pictures and wondered "who's that?" So you've got the right idea with being careful.

From my semi-semi-professional experience with makeup, I'd go with bubblepuff's advice and not try to match your makeup to your dress. If you have a light skin tone, perhaps playing up yours eyes would be better, you can enhance the color a lot, and the fake lashes would help; then keep your lips a little more subtle, maybe only a few shades darker than your natural color. Oh, and don't forget to wear blush. A lot of people are afraid of it, but a nice peachy-pink shade will make you look radiant and like the "blushing bride" we always see in magazines!

One great piece of advice I got from my photographer friend is not to put any skin sparkles (like "glow"ing lotions) on until after your photos are done. She said this can make your skin look really greasy. I'm already worried about a shiny t-zone, so I'm thinking this is a good tip for me!

Oh yes Blush is always a must. Although people are afraid of it and feel that it's too much, it it VERY necessary. Now I'm not saying to walk out your house with red dots on your cheeks (the toy soldier look) but something soft, pink and well blended.

You ever taken a picture and your face looks pale and you look at it and say "YIKES!" Well when the photographer takes a picture what happens is... the flash washes you out. So you're gonna need that blush so that you wont look pale. If you have fair skin or olive, I personally like the blush by Cargo called "Catalina" (Sephora.com).

some websites offer a tattoo cover up kit and they work wonders. I have a tattoo on my back, and i bought one of these kits for my senior prom, and it works awesome. Go to Tattoo Cover Kit - Bed, Bath and Body, they have one for $30.
