Question October 2008 Honeymoon

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone had some insight on where to go for a honeymoon at the very end of October, begining of November (wedding is Oct 25). We originally wanted to go to Europe, but finances are making that tough right now. We are open to many things, but we want to make sure the weather is appropriate for what we are going to be doing. We both like the idea of log cabin in the mountains, but I can't ski, I'd probably break my leg, no joke! And we LOVE the beach but we just went on a carribean cuise (Cozumel, Honduras, Cayman Islands...) this past September so we want something different. Please give us any ideas or suggestions....
Thanks!!

I'm getting married October 2010, and my FH and I are really wanting to go St. Lucia through Sandals resort. But seeing as how you don't want to go anywhere tropical, maybe consider going to New Hampshire. I think it's the most beautiful place to go in the Fall ~ the mountains, the trees *sigh* lol. We actually went this past September for NASCAR (hate the sport, but that's a whole other story lol). But I absolutely loved just being there. We're going again this coming September. There's not much to do as far as crazy exciting things, but because it's your honeymoon, renting a cabin by lake would be sooo romantic. New Hampshire is more of a toristy, site-seeing, shopping kinda town. I know they have a ship that you can go on and it takes maybe a 3 hour ride on the water. Or they have a long train ride as well - giving you a chance to view everything beautiful in New Hampshire.

Thanks mandy24!
Thats is a good idea! Haha! My fiance is a Nascar fanatic too...I feel your pain! I actually was looking at the St. Lucia Sandals resort also! That would still be something new for us and I love the all inclusive idea! Have you looked at pricing for that yet? When I briefly looked it up I was overwhelmed and that wasn't including airfare (we're coming from CHI). Also, do you know about hurricane season there? I'd really hate to pay all that money and be stuck inside the whole time!

Yeah, the prices are steep for Sandals. I think I was looking at a 3 or 4 night stay and it was over 3,000. But you gotta remember, that's including all food, all drinks even alcohol and some activities such as golf and scuba diving. I recieved booklets for Sandals from the expo I went to this past weekend, and found out that they also do bon fires on the beach at night. Gives ya a chance to mingle and meet other honeymooning couples. I spoke to a representitive through their live chat on the site, and he said the food and drinks aren't limited either. So for instance, you can have say 8 meals in a day if you really wanted to. And the rooms are to die for. We're looking to stay in one of those rondovals. You have a private plunge pool right outside your room, an outdoor groto shower and a jacuzzi inside, I think. So when ya think about it, the price is good for all that you're getting. As far as airfare, I'm not sure. I've actually never been on a plane myself lol. But isn't October considered an off season? Maybe the prices won't be so bad. Plus if you leave on a Sunday ~ isn't that cheaper too?
I think actually that it hurricane season lol. I wanna say September and October is, not too sure though. We would be chancing it,

gatlinburg TN is also a good place for the moutains! you can find some nice log cabins on the side of the hills. heart shaped pools, or hot tubs on your deck.

pocono resorts in PA looks very beautiful.

heres another location Amish Country Ohio Lodging Berlin Ohio Cabins

natural bridge in KY Natural Bridge 5 Star Cabin Rental | Located in Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge Kentucky thats if you like hiking.

or you could always go to Niagara falls. idk how "country" it is, but beautiful.

Thanks Dani! Those are some awesome ideas too! I was looking up some of those and I came across Colorado too! They have the hot springs plus snow mobiling or white water rafting....the only problem is that I think our date falls right in between the seasons for those things. I can't seem to find out when snowmobiling would start or white water rafting ends...ugh! It's always something..... = )

I am another fan of the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. My husband and I actually had our wedding and honeymoon there.
October would be a beautiful month as you would have the fall colors and changing leaves. There is also alot to do in Tennessee. We were in Townsend, which is close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
I have a website and I have some pictures on there if you would like to see them. Todays Destination Weddings - Planning - Suggestions)

my fiance and i never seem to do things the "conventional" way. we have wanted to get up to cedar point since we first started dating (roller coaster lovers!!!!) but haven't been able to for one reason or another, and so that is where we are headed after we say our "i do's". there are some nice resort hotels up there and the prices aren't as bad as you might think. so maybe go that route. is there anything the two of you have been DYING to do since you got together, but just haven't been able to find the time? a honeymoon will be as romantic as you make it, and what can be more romantic than spending some time with your new hubby doing something the two of you have always wanted to do?
