I am planning on running engagement announcements in two local newspapers here in Texas but I was also wanting to print up some announcement cards and send those to family and friends with a picture of my fiancee and I included. Is that too much or is it acceptable? If it is acceptable how should the announcement cards be worded?

Do you have so many friends and family that you want to let know that you couldn't pick up the phone and call them? It would be much more personable if you did this (i dont know if this is the right way of doing things, but oh well). I mean, when I got engaged, I knew that those that I wanted to let know immediately didn't number so many that I had to send out cards or the like, but I dont know your situation. If you really want to send out the pictures to your close friends and relatives, I would say send these out with your save the date cards (or invites if you aren't sending save the date cards).

I thought about doing engagement announcements too. I think my future MIL was hinting around for us to put it in the paper lol. But I just kindly told her that if we decide to put anything in the paper, it'll probably be our marriage announcement once the wedding has taken place. When we first got engaged, I told our closest friends and family personally. I think we'll have some save-the-date photo cards made at walmart, and that will let everyone else (more distant relatives) know that we've obviously gotten engaged lol. Speaking of which ~ when should I send out save-the-dates?
