I have one half - sister. She is 12 years older and we are not very close although I was in her wedding 5 years ago. My sister is really close to my dad who has been verbally abusive and out of my life for a long time. I know if I invite her she will tell my dad and he will show up and cause problems with the wedding and my moms family. I don't want her to get mad but I always dont want my wedding ruined. what do i do?

This is difficult. You need to do what is best for you and you husband to be. This should be a happy day not a nightmare. I'm not inviting some family members to my wedding. I have learned in life sometimes you have to cut the cancer out of your life so that you can be healthy and happy. Hope this helps.

This is a really difficult situation. I agree that you need to do what's best for you on your wedding day. You don't want to be stressed out on your wedding day or even the week of your wedding worrying about who might show up. I have some girls that I used to best friends with and now I never talk to so I'm not inviting them. I believe that you should have people at your wedding who are in your life and going to remain in your life. If you aren't very close I wouldn't worrying about inviting her. But if you do feel the need to invite her just make a phone call to her and tell her that although you would love her to be at your wedding you would appreciate it if she didn't mention it to your day or invite him along since he hasn't been in you life.

Since you were in her wedding, it only seems right to invite her to yours. But if you feel the need to invite her, tell her, You want her there, but to either not talk to certain people or mention things. Its best to tell them that its your day, not a therapy session. To let them know that you dont want to hear anything or see anything that ruin anything. You just need to make that clear, so you also dont hurt anyones feelings by not inviting them.
