Question Guest list for wedding

What do you guys think of us requiring that the guest be on the list in order to gain entry to the wedding. If they RSVP'd then they will be on the list, if not then they wont.

Lets face it, people are rude and sometimes inconsiderate, they will bring a guest without permission, they will NOT RSVP & then show up. So... I thought that I would have someone at the door with a list and they must be on the list with the proper number of +1's.

Is this rude or is it ok?

Cool Re: Guest list for wedding

Actually I have thought of doing this because I know my friends are going to screw me over. My problem is not with the rudeness but with who would stand at the door. That would be a pretty awful job and who really wants to do it but YOU and well you cannot.
I like the idea completely!!!!

Well all of the venues i have visited thus far require a state police office as security so I am hoping I can solicit their services as a "guest list checker" Maybe slip them a $100 for the extra duty.

I could see that some people would think that it is rude. But I must say that they are the rude ones for not RSVPing. But again who would have do that job?

This is something I have not thought of ~ and I usually think of everything! lol I did briefly wonder if some people would not/forget to RSVP. And then if certian people would - A. bring a guest when the invite doesn't say that they can or B. respond to the invite that only one person will attend and then end up bringing a guest at the last minute. My guest list isn't huge anyways. And we're contracted to pay for 70 guests even if there happens to be less. BUT, if more than 70 people are there, then we have to pay for it ~ $45 a head. Which is not in our budget. So, we cannot afford to pay for more than 70 people. I think I just may recruit someone to be a bouncer too lol.

Yep! People WILL do something like that, I have come to terms with it. There a couple of things we will have to deal with though like a friend showing up w/a guest who is not on the list and them being turned away. I don't want a good firend not to be able to attend the wedding. I for one don't want to pay for a bunch of strangers to eat when it's running us $50 a head!

Mmhmm...it's like, people don't realize how much a wedding costs these days. They're just thinking, 'oh hey, a wedding...free food! '. They don't stop to think that this free food is costing someone a pretty penny. Pricing is crazy though ~ $45-$50 a head....there better be friggen gold nuggets in those mashed potatoes!!

I was just thinking it could be an usher job. I mean that sounds like an usher job and mine will be my HUGE baby brother so it may just work out. The police guy sounds great but for the rest of us it is not an option. I am going to give it to my Ushers to do. What do you think?

Thats actually not a bad idea. We had to invite 100 people in order to book our venue which is alot more then the 50 - 60 we were planning. At basically 114.00 pp after everything is factured in (dinner package bar package hor d'ouvres etc.) i really dont want anyone showing up unexpected. thanx for the idea lamomandbride.
Now just to figureout who i could sucker in to it.......

I think that is a great idea. I might steal it. The cop who is working mine might say screw you, then I will be SOL. So I might solicit the services of one of the ushers.
