Default Share two ways to import 4:3 letterboxed DVD to 16:9 video file for Sony Vegas

Have you downloaded a DVD that some one must have recorded off of their TV, probably a 16:9 broadcast, recorded onto 4:3 format. So what you’ve got is a bunch of 4:3 VOBs containing a 16:9 video with letterboxing above and below. Do you consider converting this to a 16:9 video, with the letterboxing removed, and then chop the video into segments for further editing on Sony Vegas?

The first solution: Use this DVD tool called Moyea DVD Ripper

Step 1: Download and install this Moyea DVD Ripper which can easily and fastly rip any DVDs to any other video format with excellent output quality. In addition, it is a wonderful editor which has some special functions, like trimming, cropping, etc.

Step 2: Add the DVD file onto the program by click “DVD Folder” (or click “DVD Rom” and “IFO/ISO”)

Step 3: Click “Settings” and then select the 16:9 output video format on the profile

Step 4: Crop the letterboxed and trim the file to several segments after clicking the “Edit” icon.

Step 5: Start the DVD conversion by clicking the “Convert” button

Go to the destination folder and copy the converted file to Sony Vegas after the whole process of conversion.

The second solution: Converting DVDs to WMV, AVI, etc. acceptable to Sony Vegas and then import the ripped DVD to Sony Vegas for editing.

Use this program DVD Ripper to convert DVD to Sony Vegas workable formats and then import the converted files to Sony Vegas for further editing.

Sony Vegas not only can crop video to 16:9 but also has a trimmer that you can use to cut the letterboxed of the file and then place it on the timeline. The original video is not affected so you can edit the clips or segments multiple times.

Well, both simple ways can easily achieve the aim to transfer DVDs to Sony Vegas.

Hope it helps!
