Talking Just a random walk in the woods

February 22, 2008... just another lazy Friday. No classes for me or my BF. I had the day off from work too and we had been planning since the weekend before to take a walk in the Stephen F. Austin Experimental Forest. Its about 15 minutes outside of town and we usually take our Australian Shepherd, Aussie, on walks (She loves to roam free without a leash and Nacogdoches has leash laws).

We took the short loop like we always do and I ended up having to go to the bathroom, so we cut our walk short. Tim (my BF) told me to meet him a little ways down from the parking lot at a bird blind. We sometimes sit there with Aussie to watch the birds flit around the fountain and overgrown pond.

So when I was done doing my business, I met Tim at the bird blind. I noticed there were rose petals trailing from the blind and stopping at the fountain. As I walked up, I thought to myself "Awwww! Something romantic happened here!" I really didn't put two and two together. I asked Tim, "Wonder what happened?" and he replied "I don't know, lets go check it out!"

So I walked out in front of him and he followed me down to the pond. I stopped at the fountain and he said from behind me "This must have been the spot." And I was like "...What?" As I turned to face him, he said "The spot where this happened." When I turned around all the way, he was down on one knee with a brown ring box in his hands and he said "Kelsey, will you marry me?"

As soon as I saw that he was on one knee, I started balling! It was like I had tunnel vision and all that I could see was the brown box that had my ring. I hugged him as I was crying and he said "So, is that a yes?" (LOL! ) I was just like "of course!!!" I hadn't even realized that a huge diesel truck had started and roared out of the parking lot while we were hugging, Tim had noticed it. He said that it was annoying and I had no idea what he was talking about.

We ended up calling and texting everyone who needed to know right then and there. I had to ask Tim a couple times what he had said to me because of the tunnel vision.
