On December 28, my soon-to-be fiance told me that he was going to take me out on a date. We both got dressed up and headed to downtown Indianapolis. When we got there, he suprised me with a trip to our favorite restaurant- The Spaghetti Factory. We walked right in and had a great dinner! After dinner, we went to see the play Tuesdays with Morrie (my favorite book). This was an absolute suprise and I was soooo excited that he remembered that I said I wanted to see the play months before! The play was amazing! After that, he asked if I wanted to walk around. I was confused because it was freezing outside but I agreed because the town looked beautiful still lit up with Christmas lights. Eventually we made our way to the Circle- where he told me we were going on a horse-drawn carriage ride. We got in the carriage, buried ourselves under the covers, and set out on a romantic tour of the city. About 20 minutes into the ride, he told me how he wanted to be with me forever and asked me to marry him. He showed me the ring- which he designed himself! Of course I said yes!!! I am still in awe that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend!!

I forgot to mention that he totally tricked me about the proposal. He had gone home for Thanksgiving weekend- saying that he was going to look around for a ring during his trip home. Well, at one point during the weekend, he told me how he couldn't find the right ring and that we would just need to put off the engagement for awhile until he could. I believed him! I was so irritated! However, while he was at home, he and his mom found a wonderful jeweler who worked with them to design a ring using the diamonds from his mother's engagement ring as the basis. It is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen and I am so happy to be his future wife!

Jessica,
That's a beautiful story. Your FH sounds about as romantic as mine. We're both lucky gals! Mine surprised me with a carriage ride about two years ago as well. No engagement at that time - just a beautiful night on out in my new hometown. ![]() |

Aw! So sweet!
Mine was at work with everybody watching and giving me roses... And then he came out with a grin, and a ring... ________________________ There is no perfect wedding. We all need something to laugh back at 30 years later. |
