What time of year is your wedding? Do you have a theme at all? Mine is in the fall with ivory and espresso as main colors and I am mixing many different fall colors too so I am getting a small hurricane lamp ($2.50 from Wal-Mart), using a dark brown candle and white and brown glass beads around the candle and setting that on silk leaves. I have also seen some nice bowls and using floating candles in your colors.

Oooh, have you picked out your flowers yet? Hydrangeas are gorgeous in your wedding colors!

With centerpieces, simple is more sophisticated and cost-effective. Tea light candles are cheap and make for a nice atmosphere. There are tons of different things you can do with the candles too. Do you have a theme? You could create one. For example, I'm doing a beach-themed wedding so I'm having a fish bowl in the middle of the table sitting on white sand, with tea lights and sea shells all around. The fish bowl will have turquoise rocks. Another idea I had but decided not to do is a sailboat tealight holder.

Isn't it cute? If you give me a theme to work with (or season) I can probably think of other cute ideas.

I'm having a morning wedding, with a brunch reception. I'm using the Fall Theme. Do you think using candlelight indoors at 12 noon will be weird?

You can incorporate tasteful candlelight indoors--even during the noon hour--by tying it back into your fall theme. We recommend trying floating candles for your centerpieces, because they won't take up much room on the table and they can be cleaned easily. Another idea would be to make a centerpiece out of your wedding favors, by being creative with an autumn basket, decorated with your wedding colors. For something more unique, you might want to set a table off to the side and decorate it fully in a fall-theme, and then use minimal decor on your tables.

I am a big fan of keeping it simple. I think simple is elegant. You could do a simple flower arrangement as the centerpiece that incorporates your colors. You don't want it to take up too much room on the table so that the table seems to "busy."

This may not be very helpful - but I just could not believe how many centerpiece ideas there were on the web when I looked it up in Google. If you can spare an hour or two, just look at 100 or so and bookmark what you like.

Purple could be very overwhelming, so if I were you I would use a mirror as base for the centrepiece and then fill a tall glase vase with just one orchid
