I am in the midst of chaos-or better known as planning my wedding and Im just wondering if anyone knows how a reception works from start to finish ie. the bride and groom make their grand appearance after photos etc-then what? Is there any particular order that things happen -dances,toasts,food served etc.....

From what I remember the bride and groom make there entrance... then people go trough receiving line if you have one.. then you eat, then you cut the cake, then you do garter,then flowers then 1st dance, then father daughter dance, then mother son dance then everyone parties is up

I think the steps are up to you. The weddings I've been to, the couple enters, everyone eats, and then the varies detail. Some people cut the cake first, some dance first, but the first dance usually starts the dancing. Then the garter toss/bouquet throw is done later in the reception. It's really up to how you feel like doing it.

That's the best way to do it! I think people enjoy weddings more when you make more about yourself and your fiance. The more unique, the better! Good luck!

Initially i was scared of making the wedding what i have dreamt of in my head since i was a wee little girl-because it is so far from the traditional wedding its not funny! - i have my flowergirls in tutus,so they look like little ballerinas, my 16month old girl is going to be my bridesmaid because i want her to stand out from the crowd and be up there with us on the day.....but you know what-you made me realise-stuff what everyone thinks and wants-its my day dammit!
