Default Father/daughter dance

My dad wants to do this for our dance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMqPFukd8g8
I'm not comfortable with this because A.) I can't dance and B.) I hate being the center of attention. I told him this and he said get over it...any suggestions on how I can avoid this? He says it better characterizes our relationship...to me it says our relationship is a joke...how can I get him to understand I don't want to do this?

Your father sounds like he's got a great sense of humor. Ultimately it's your day. That being said, you're already going to be the center of attention. This might be something really fun and really memorable. If your set on not doing something this quirky, find a compromise. Maybe your Dad just wants to be the center of attention at some point. Maybe him and someone else can choreograph another song. Or maybe something not quite this elaborate.

Whatever you decide remember to have fun on your day and smile. It's so sad when a bride looks like a deer in headlights for the whole event.

You could try telling your dad that its just not the feel you want for your first dance. I understand too you will be the center of attention but you dont want to feel rediculus. He cant blame you if you dont wanna do it.

I know I'll be the center of attention already...that is nerve racking enough. This will just add to it...*sigh*

My dad and I watched this last night. It was very funny and it is for some people, but I am with you. I would feel totally uncomfortable doing this.

My dads comment was "There is to much other stuff to do other than rehearse a dance!" I can disagree with him there!

First of all, you're going to be the center of attention all day. But enjoy it, people are going to be watching you because you look beautiful and because they're so happy for you! But I thought that video was so cute, I totally want to do it. And the dance moves weren't really that difficult. But if you feel THAT uncomfortable with it, just tell him. The way I see it, people ALWAYS see the traditional father/daughter dance. It creates a more unique memory when you do something unexpected like the dance in the video. People will be talking about it for years! Just think about it, I bet you'll have fun.
