Ceremony and reception location
I am just wondering the about how much everyone is paying for their ceremony/reception site. I just got two price estimates back today and I was almost blown away! One of the sites doesn't seem that expensive given the the accommodations, but still I am curious about everyone else.

Re: Ceremony and reception location
I am getting married at the same place that the reception is. The cost of the place was $2500. This includes chairs (inside and out), tables (inside), place settings, set up and holds up to 300 people. They do not cater so I had to get someone else to do that.

Re: Ceremony and reception location
i am not doing the tradition. but for my wedding site including the minister and all the flowers (bride. brides maid. groom. groomsmen & fathers) it si 2600.00 and then for the reception we are having 2 , the first one is out of town where we are getting married and it is at a cabin so we just had to rent the cabin, and the second on is at my mom's house, so free. but for the wedding site alone we are paying 2500 so i wanted to make sure that we kept the rest pretty cheap!

Re: Ceremony and reception location
The site I have found so far that I like is $950 for a weekday, that includes inside table and chairs. If we get if for a weekend it goes up to $1,600 or something like that. Oh, and it is a wedding/reception site. The reason I like it so much is because of the foyer! I want to take pictures in the foyer, so that is my main reason for liking it. lol I thought about renting just the foyer for a while, but that will end up being even more expensive in the long run because there is a museum that I want to have my pictures taken at also (not on the wedding day) and I will have to pay extra for that too, so that is kind of where that little extra splurge of money was going.
My mom is thinking that I should get the fancy place for the ceremony, and then have the reception at my grandmother's church. (My mom had her reception on my grandmothers church, when she married my stepdad.) I am not sure it will be any cheaper to do this because I believe they rent the mansion out by the day/evening instead of by the hours. If I could save money doing this then I may seriously consider it. (The chairs that the church don't all match, but hopefully they won't pay to much attention. lol)

Re: Ceremony and reception location
I must be super lucky then. I am having the wedding at my parent's church. The building is not super pretty, but is going to be less than $300 for ceremony and reception. That also includes tables chairs, linens, and kitchen facilities (we are going to be cooking our own food, not catering). Definitly if you have the option of doing it at your church or sometimes a community center, go for it, but if not, the prices that you were talking of are abouit what I have seen.

Re: Ceremony and reception location
My fiance and I are nuts as we are paying $19,000 just for the site. This includes the reception and ceremony as well as 12 suites for us to get ready in and to stay overnight but everything else is extra! Like I said--we're nuts but we fell 100% in love with the place and are taking second mortgages to pay for it all. It's one mega special day and we don't want to take second best. Ah... the extra work I have ahead of me

Re: Ceremony and reception location
Well we're not paying $19,000 but the wedding and reception will be on a yacht. Everything except the photographer and flowers is $6,000.including the cake . We'll cruise the harbor for 4 hours. We both loved it!!

Re: Ceremony and reception location
I work in the wedding industry and in my area most venues run anywhere from $1000 to $3000 just for the location. There are a few that are higher and a few that are lower. The tricky thing with the lower priced options is they don't usually have much of an advertising budget so it's a bit harder to find them.

Re: Ceremony and reception location
We are having our ceremony at a historic site and our reception at my church ( I am catholic so having champagne and a bar isn't an issue there lol) and each site is only costing us $100.00. If you look into it there are alot of "public" sites-as in owned by the city in which you live- that are available CHEAP!!! For example, Cathedral Square in Mobile,AL is only $25.00!!!!and it's gorgeous- I've been to 3 weddings there in the past 2 years.

Re: Ceremony and reception location
I went to daycare at the church back in the day.. So all i have to pay is like $100, but we are going to pay a little more and give the pastor some in his pocket. And the reception we are looking at is $800, not catered. Our most expensive thing is pictures..but its the most important thing that will last forever.
