Smile Doing it all without a planner

Hello
My wedding is not till Oct 2008 but I am starting now. I can use all the help I can get.
It will be a Fall Wedding in Charlotte, NC. My mother and I are planning it all.
Any suggestions would be great. It will be a small & simple wedding with a small budget. 70 people tops. Having my ceremony at a chapel and the reception (probablly) being held in a park.

hi there! i am also a fall 2008 bride to be...oct 4th....we've both been married before and are on a tight budget...in fact we're doing a country theme...right down to bbq and fried chicken at the reception! to some it may sound tacky but its all in what you like, enjoy and can afford...anns bridal bargains.com have a lot of nice yet inexpensive things..or keep in mind you can cut costs by printing your own invites...i'm making my own flowers..nothing fancy...i'm lucky to have friends who are willing to pitch in...from food to deocorations...just remember its your day...the less stress the more you'll enjoy and remember it all....

Hi - I am setting the date for July 5 and it's in our backyard. I am having a sort of mid summer nights dream/ Garden idea. I am going to my local grocery store and having a few dishes made $20.00 each. All totaling about $150.00 and the rest will be made on the grill! I am ordering canopy's now from walmart.com - cost $99. because it's the off season and free shipping if you have them send it to your local walmart. Also I found alot of great garden stuff from collectionsetc.com where everything is under $ 20.00. For the fall theme nows a good time to stock up on some of the fall clearance for leaves and such for placing around your tables centerpiece. Michaels.com has alot of fall craft ideas you could use. It's my first wedding and my fiance second - we have kids togheter and we have just bought a house so money is TIGHT! Our budget is $3000.00

I'm in Charlotte, NC as well! our wedding ceremony will actually be in Dec 2008 in St. Thomas, but our reception will be in Charlotte in Jan 2009. I also don't anticipate more than 50-100 guests (haven't really made the list yet, or figured out who I think will realistically come). a local park is one of the places I've kept on my running list of possibilities for reception venues. I'm not going to hire a planner for that either. my mom will also be helping me, along with I'm sure plenty of advice thrown in from friends... and wedding websites like this! so sounds like we will have a lot in common while doing our planning, at least for the reception!

I just got married and had about 90 people. We were also on a tight budget. I'd say you need to figure out what is most important to you and spend money on those aspects of your wedding, and maybe less on other less important parts. For me, I really wanted good food and good music so I spent my money on those, and less on fancy floral arrangements (because that wasn't as important to me).

Holding a reception in the park is beautiful but you need to remember the weather. Try shopping around for gazebo's or canopies - target.com walmart.com offer some really nice ones for a decent price. You can order a few and have one for food, and a few for your guests etc. Best of luck.

hi my wedding is is January 2009 and i have no clue what i need to do. I am in a growing city in the Texas panhandle and unfortunantly there are no plannners that are not attached to venues. I want a beautiful formal winter wedding but everything seems to be spinning out of control, (my small and sweet little 100 person wedding is quickly growing to a huge 500 invite wedding). I would appreciate any advice or help i can get...i dont come from a particularly well off family, but being the only girl my parents want to plan the extravagent event and pay for it all. So naturally i am on a budget.

First off - take a deep relaxing breath!!! You want to start by creating a list of to do's. Get a good planning book and an empty binder - a large one because you will be filling it! Look at where you want the wedding and reception and start making calls. Enlist in some wedding planning websites - if you have to plan it yourself it's best to get help from the experts for free from the many websites out there. Just google "do it yourself wedding planning" and see the hundreds of websites you'll find. Enlist the help of your bridesmaids if they are willing. Have them research a particular area - whether it's decorations, ceremony, dresses, color schemes, themes etc and hold regular meetings.
Good luck!
