Default Outdoor reception

I am having an outdoor reception and will hit the official and dreaded 6 month mark this weekend! I am overwhelmed but taking it step by step. I am having a theme wedding - "Garden Wedding & Reception" and will have bamboo fencing, bamboo plants as favors, butterflies, white twinkling lights. I am interested in finding out what other outdoor wedding ideas there are. Please share your ideas and thoughts. I am running low on ideas and want to pick some brains! Wedding date 7/5/08

Hmm, let's see.....for place settings, you could get those little clay pots, fill them with pebbles or moss, hot glue the name card onto a twig and stick that into the pebbles or moss, and then have a little butterfly sitting on the rim of the pot. Going with the bamboo theme, maybe you find some sort of bamboo chargers and napkin rings for the tables. Do you know what flowers you're going with and what your color scheme will be?

Love the pot seating idea! - My colors are sage green, pale yellow with light pink accents. I will have white table cloths - I am thinking of a white flower, lily maybe in clear vase. I pulled the idea from Martha Stewart and it looked so elegant. In the clear vase she had pale blue stones - I could do green stones matching the bridesmaid dress. What do you think?

Oh my gosh, I love those colors together! I think that's going to look so great. I like the centerpiece idea too. Maybe embelish that with clear glass votives around the vase? Try to get every color on the tables. Like, maybe have a smaller sage green cloth over the white one (you know, so you can see both cloths), then use either yellow or pink stones in the vases and then yellow or pink votive candles. That way you'll have incorporated all of the colors in your scheme.

CHERRY BLOSSOMS! Those would be so nice with your theme. I think usually they're white and have a hint of pink in the middle.

YES YES and YES - I love the tablecloth and votive idea - will shop around this weekend! As far as the cherry blossoms - perfect! I will ask my florist. Don't want to go to heavy with the flower but one per vase for simplicistic beauty would be fabolous!

This isn't quite what you wanted but I just looked at this page and it seemed to have a lot of ideas that would work for an outdoor wedding.

Yeah, I think that's going to look awesome. And I'm pretty sure cherry blossoms are long, so tall and slender vases would be a lovely compliment.

Thank you. That really helped. I found alot of great websites this weekend on the outdoor wedding, decorating etc. I have tons of readign to do this week. I am confused about the dress now . I want a unique dress with green accents and haven't found one yet. Not yet worried but slightly feeling it.

Oh c'mon girl, no need to panic ~ even if you don't see exactly what you're looking for online or in a magazine. Try going to a seamstress, give her an idea of what you want and I'm sure she can pull it off. That's their job lol.
