Default Decoration Ideas

My wedding is November 8th and my reception is at the local VFW and my colors are Black and Pink. Anyone have any ideas on decorations and centerpieces? We are on a VERY tight budget.

For centerpieces, you could go with a simple glass jar, fill bottom with stones or colored sand and have a candle inside. I would think that's much more budget friendly than flowers. As for decorations, go with the traditional balloons in pink and black. I wouldn't overdue the balloons though. Maybe just one of those balloon arches over the DJ or band. Flowers are one of the best ways to decorate for a wedding, so maybe there could be some. Like a centerpiece on the head table and maybe on the buffet table ~ if you're having a buffet, that is. Seeing the reception is indoors, I would mainly concentrate on the tables. Having candles incorportated will set a beautiful glow all around the room and will pretty much do the decorating for you.

For you centerpiece on the head table...try this...decorate with tulle(its cheap) draping it on the front edge of the table...put a few flowers between each drape...save the middle for your bouquet....after pictures you have a place to put your bouquet and it doubles as a centerpiece. I did this for my first wedding.

Fill a glass vase with big black pebbled stones (the big ones) and then only put one Gerbera flower in (the bright fusion pink one). In south Africa we also call them Baberton daisies..

OR

Take big silver candleholders and drape bright pink and black stringed beads over it. It will look awesome!

What we am doing for our wedding (tight budget too) is I am using hydrangeas (as a nod to my grandma who had them in her garden when I was growing up) but we are not using cut hydrangeas because they are too pricey. We are using small pots of hydrangeas (about $15 at the grocery store here) and I am going to cover the pots with a chocolate brown fabric (our accent color). We are also going to put a little tag on the centerpieces inviting people to take them home and plant them so whenever they see them growing in their garden, they are reminded of our growing love (hope no-one accidently kills them)

That's a real cute idea, restingdonkey. Hopefully no one fights over who gets to take them home lol.

what we are doing is getting little mirrors (found them at the dollar store) about 3 inch in diameter and putting little votives or tealights in them, then scatter silk rose petals through out. of course i don't know how well this is going to work (if at all) now that we have decided on an outdoor reception :-(
