Okay, so here is the deal. My fiance and I have different ideas and beliefs. He was raised Catholic, but now attends an Evangelical Free Church. I was not brought up with any beliefs or religion what so ever. Since we have dated I have gone to his church with his several times. I would say that I do believe in God, but I might not be as committed as he is.

Here is the problem, he wants to get married in his church, but I am afraid they won't let us because I am not a member of their church. My fiance's cousin and his fiancee were denied a wedding there because they lived together. His mother's side is very devout Catholics and I am afraid they will look down upon our wedding if it is not done in a church. Any ideas for what we can do if his church won't marry us?

I would first ask if they will marry you. It might be enought that he attends regularly and you visit occasionally. If they will not, you could see if there are any other churches or cute chapels that would allow you to use the facilities. Another option (if weather permits) would be to go with an outdoor wedding of some sort. This way if anyoe has issue with the wedding not being in a church, you can just say that you desired to have the ceremony outside in all of God's glory.

I love the line about having the wedding outside in all of God's glory. I like the idea but we are getting married in the middle of July and I am afraid it will be REALLY hot. We have already been asked by several member's of his family which church we will be getting married in, so it is a BIG deal to them. The other option we thought of was to go to the courthouse that morning and get married there, then have a ceremony at the church (if the church has issues with us living together before marriage and blah blah blah). We have plenty of time to figure it out, since we aren't getting married until 7.11.09 but I would really like to book the church soon. I guess all we can do is ask and see what they say and go on from there. Thanks!
