Question An usher's job

Are the ushers still supposed assist guests to their seats for the ceremony? Because my fiances' BM is going to be my 15 year old brother, will be 18 when we actually get married. And the two ushers will be my other brother who will be 12 when we wed and my friend's husband. I'm just nervous that my brothers won't understand/pay attention on what they need to do. While I'm on the subject, is a 12 year old too old to be a ring bearer?

yes, ushers are suppose to escort the women to their seats. the BM is up your fiance. if he thinks your brother can handle it, and trusts that he will do an ok job, then thats fine. he will be 18, he should understand and pay attention. as for the young ushers..they might be ok.. just make sure they are up for the tasks. they're learn what they really have to do at the rehearsal dinner. as for the ring bearer, that is pretty old. you could have him as a junior attendant.

Yeah, I was affraid of the age thing. It's only because we have no other little boys we know right now. And my fiance wanted my cousin to be an usher as well, and with my little brother as an usher, there's no 'room' for my cousin. I have no other ladies I could have in my party either to match my cousin up with. Grrrrr ~ engaged for 2 days and there's already drama lol. Hopefully someone pops out a boy soon haha.

I have a son who is about the age of your brothers... and I can tell you that he would totaly understand what is job would be. They are alot more mature ( when they want to be) then I thought at that age. Just a little info about the pre-teen 12 yr olds! LOL... I think they will do fine for ya!

I have seen several young ushers, and they do fine. My nephew was and usher in my wedding and he was 11. The formality of the occasion and the honor of being asked to do a quote "adult" job usually makes them shine like a new penny. And yes 12 is probably too old for a ring bearer.

I agree. I am having my younger brother who will turn 13 just before the wedding be an usher, but not stand up with the groom. He was honored to be asked to do something important on our big day (its my 20 year old brother I am worried about not even showing up to perform his responsibilities). As for the ring bearer, who says you have to have one? I am forgoing the entire ring bearer/flower girl thing just because A) we don't have any young family members and B) younger children who are the proper age for such duties are usually very uncooperative in the first place, but that's just us. If you want a ring bearer go for it.
