heather, i am 19 and have been engaged since october 27th 2007, my fiance and i didnt exactly have support from his family, and financially from mine...which the brides parents are suppose to pay for the wedding. seventeen is a hard age to be employed at but i recommend all grocerie stores, convient stores and subways, not the most fashionable, but flexible and subway pays pretty good for a first job. your young and should try to quit smoking now, it will save you sooo much money you wont believe and your life and your fiances. trust me. smoking is so overated. if you need someone to talk to you can IM me on mrsmrkleinknight or email me at mrsmrkleinknight@aol.com

I think that you should wait to get married until you are on your feet. You can always postpone the wedding if you have to. If you are in love, then there shouldnt be a rush to get hitched. Time and patience will work out in the long run.

I agree with the ladies above me, you are so young and have so much in front of you, you should really give grown life a chance before rushing into things. I can tell you first hand its better to be on your feet financally in a relationship then not. $20 a week is not enough to plan a wedding on and put food on the table. I work full time in management and it is still hard to make ends meet some months I am sure you have heard this all before but really reconsider, a year is not that long, take your time, enjoy life.

I alos agree witht he others, you are young and you are just fresh out of school, i think you should wait a while my fiance and i have been together for seven years and are getting married this july, depending upon where you live, have you applied at any gas stations, or family oriented resteraunts, or have a family friend who owns or know someone who owns a business where you could show of you working skills? good luck with job hunting

You are young and if you really love each other postpone the marriage at least another year. This way you'll have money saved and be on your feet. But do remember you are 17 and msot employers don't like to hire people till they're 18. So once you turn 18 you should be fine with getting a job. But you are young don't rush things, you can plan now and get married in may 2009. We set our date for may 2008 then his sister annouced they were getting married in april well his siter is a me,me,me person so we moved to may 2009. But I'm still planning. And I look at this way. I will have my first pick at everything. Becasue they won't be booked yet and when it's time for a deposit I'll have it and not be strained for cash that week. So it might work out better. Good luck
