I'm a first-time bridesmaid for my friends wedding in June. Do I bring a date? I don't have a husband/fiance/serious boyfriend or anything, but I know that some of the other bridesmaids do. I don't want to be the only one without a date, but I also don't want to bring a random guy because he won't know anyone and would probably be bored. Any suggestions/comments? What has happened at weddings you've been to?

That's a tough one. I, honestly, have never had any problems with someone bringing a close friend as a date, especially if it's someone that won't know very many people at the wedding. But I also know that a lot of couples get really annoyed when people do this. I would ask the bride what she thinks. I would much rather have someone bring a close friend and enjoy themselves than for them to sit alone all night. It really kind of depends on the situation, but I think the best thing would be to ask her.

Thanks for the reply! I'm meeting with the entire wedding party this weekend...maybe I'll bring it up then and see what the bride thinks and what everyone else is planning to do as well.

I was also thinking about asking one of the groomsmen who isn't in a serious relationship to be my date. This way neither one of us has to worry about our date being alone!
