Question What is the most unusual wedding theme/colors you've seen?

Hello brides-to-be,

As you spend time deciding what colors and themes you want for your big day, we invite you to share with all of us some of your more unusual stories. Have you ever been sent Disney wedding invitations, only to show up and see that the bride is dressed up as the Little Mermaid? Were you ever invited to a masked ball wedding? Took place in a love knot ceremony? Went to a wedding that was all black or metallic blue?

Hello - I am having a backyard wedding in July 08 and my wedding colors are yellow and green. I am getting alot of looks when I am asked my wedding colors and I state pale yellow and olive green. Is there something funky about my colors?

Great question. Pale yellow and olive green will complement each other well, especially if you have a summer theme wedding. It may be hard for people to visualize those colors for a wedding, since that particular combination has a very specific tonality and may give off a retro feel. You may want to consider taking some digital pictures of your accessories or bridesmaids gowns to show to people, or add ribbons to your key chain, so they can get a better visual feel for your colors.

For your peace of mind, we recommend taking pictures of your colors in black-and-white. If you have enough contrast in your pictures, and you are satisfied that they won't look dated in the years to come, then you have made the perfect choice.

Thank you. I love the key chain idea. I went online to research party favors and found this beautiful online store Beau coup (spelling?) it has very beautiful mini table top trees in the colors I wanted so I sent this to a few of my friends for visualization of my colors and I got a better response. Thanks!

The most unusual themed wedding I've everattended was actually one I helped plan and was a bridesmaid in- my mom and stepdad had a mardi gras wedding! They were the first couple in he area in which I live to do so and since we live just outside of Biloxi,MS Mardi Gras is very popular here. They were married on the king and queen's float of the krewe my stepdad belonged to just before the parade rolled. Mom wore a long green satin dress, the groom wore a white tux and tails decorated with purple, green and gold sequins and the traditional comedy/ tragedy symbols on back, and the bridesmaids wore purple or gold. We had a blast and even made the front page of the Sunday paper.
