Wedding colors, Help
I am going to be married in May and haven't done any planning yet. I am trying to decide on colors but have no idea. I love pink but one of my friends used pink and chocolate for her colors, my hubby-to-be's first wedding was red and something, my second color choice, so I am thinking about purple but have no idea what to pair with it. Any ideas on would be very helpful.

ive been in your shoes.. and like everyone told me.. who cares what he had before or what your best friend did. go with what YOU like, cuz its your day and it only happens once.do your favorite color, or colors that are in for the season. pink and chocolate are very popular right now, but if you like them together, dont let that stop you. just remember, do what makes you happy. cuz your pics are something you will have forever to look back on.

Re: Wedding colors, Help
One way to get around using the exact same color scheme as prior weddings, would be to pick a different primary color of your palette with a separate look. For example, if your friend had used pink roses with brown ribbons, then you could certainly find a different shade of pink, add a deeper chocolate, and choose a different flower, like the cherry blossom, for your colors.
If you enjoy pink, you could use black as your second color, in limited amounts. Black can add a healthy amount of contrast to let your dress shine, and will relieve any worries you might have over matching someone else.
The key here, is that no matter what colors you choose, it's still your big day. We recommend walking into a fabric or art store, to put colors together yourself to see what you might like. It can be easier to visualize what your colors will be, once you see what's available for your wedding.
Good luck!!!

Re: Wedding colors, Help
I suggest you come up with a theme to guide you. For example, you can choose to have something as unique as a Gothic type of wedding. This way, you can use the same color motif as anybody else and still stay unique.

Re: Wedding colors, Help
That's a great idea. Thanks. I am thinking about doing a kind of bohemian/vintage/beach type theme. What would you call that? I want to use bamboo and this awesome wooden platters. I know it sounds weird. but I was thinking of using limeish green with pink accents. What do you guys think?

Re: Wedding colors, Help
Hi Justina. When I read your original post, I was actually going to suggest pink and green. I think they look very good together. I've always like pink and gray together, or even purple and gray would look nice. But if you wanted to go with a bohemian beach theme, then maybe purple and a sage green would work for you. I can understand how you don't want to 'copy' anyone's ideas and how you want something entirely your own. I, myself am kinda in the same dilema. I have always, ALWAYS wanted to get married in October. It's my favorite month and time of year. Well, a good friend of mine went ahead a couple of years ago and married in October. Man did that tic me off lol. And she's just the type of person to say that I'm copying her. But ya know what? Tough s***, if she doesn't like...oh well. So I do agree with dani. Go with whatever your heart desires.

Re: Wedding colors, Help
Mmhmm, that's true. Even though my wedding theme is going to completely different from hers. She had a tropical theme and wed in the bahamas, where as I'm going to take full advatage of the georgous foliage here in New England and have the wedding and reception at a farm. Not a farm with cows and piggies lol but it's a beautiful place I came across with a little waterfall where couples take their vows and an outdoor pavillion for the recetion. So we're not going the same route with the theme, but I'll bet my entire wedding on her saying something about having it the same month. We're having our annual friends Christmas get-together this Saturday, so I'll let everyone know what she says lol.
