Question Colors and Themes completely lost

I'm completely lost in planning my wedding. My fiance and I are getting married in April 2009 so its going to be spring (hopefully, living in kentucky weather changes at the drop of a hat) I can't decide on a theme, colors, or anything for that matter. I like emerald green but when my mom and mother-in-law to be suggest pinks or purples to go with that color I shy away from it since pink hasn't been my favorite color. I'm more tomboyish. I had decided on a western themed wedding but decided against it since its going to be spring time and a huge downside is that I would have to order my wedding dress out of a cataloge without even trying it on! Big NO in my mind. My fiance has completely stepped back and let me take the reins on everything but I'm slowly coaxing him into helping. He has made suggestions of doing a horse themed wedding since I've got a horse and I've been crazy about horses all my life but I also want to include him and he's into tennessee football, construction, bullriding that stuff. I have thought about doing a patriotic wedding since he was in the army but I can't decide. Oh any suggestions would greatly be appreciated!

First of all honey, don't try and please everyone...cause it never happens lol. You end up trying so hard to make everyone happy and end up being miserable yourself. You and your FH need to sit down and make a list of all possible themes. Then go over them and pick the ones you like best ~ keep narrowing the list down til there's one remaining. Once you have a theme picked out, everything else gets a little easier ~ such as which colors to pick, favors, centerpieces, ect. I think your western idea was cute. I don't see why your dress has to actually fit in with the theme too though. Give that a bit more thought girl. There's so much you can do with a western theme.

I agree with Mandy. Sit down with your FH and talk about the different theme ideas. My FH is the same way and says he doesn't care and blah blah blah, but once I sit him down and we start looking at stuff, he's usually into it and very helpful. As far as wanted to incorporate all those things about your FH, the football, construction, etc.... I would say maybe if you are having a groom's cake, you could decorate it with those things.

I think the western theme would be cute too and there are lots of stuff out there for western theme wedding. I also agree that your dress should be a dress that you absolutely love, that doesn't mean it has to be a "western dress" at all. Whatever dress makes you feel beautiful on your big day.

If a western wedding is your dream...go for it. I agree with mandy on the dress. Look around and ask your local shops to help you locate a dress. You never know you might just find the perfect western wedding dress anyway.
Best of luck to you!
