Hi Im new here and I just wanted to say that this place seems great !!! I was never really in a wedding where I was old enough to be responsible for help w the planning so I sometimes feel like Im in over my head w all this
Ok so for my colors I was wondering people's opinion ... My dress is Ivory and its outlined in champagne , so I have 2 questions ..1) Should my bridesmaids dresses be a warm toned color like mine ? 2) Do the groomsmen's vest have to match the color of my girls' dresses? Im getting married in August of next yr and I like this terracota color ( davids bridal ) and Im thinking thats a lil girlie for the guys ?? So could they just wear champagne colored vests ?? What color schemes do you guys suggest for August weddings ? Usually Im good at this stuff , but Im really stumped w this for some reason lol Thank you , for taking the time to read this ! |

I don't think that the colors of the bridesmaid dresses have to match the groomsmen vest. That is what I was going to do at first but I actually haev the girls wear champange dresses and the guys wearing pink ties/vest. (Dark pink not baby pink) My brother is a goof ball and was totally all about wearing pink. I am surprised he didn't convience his wife to do that for their wedding! But I dont' think they have to be the same!

I agree, I don't think the bridesmaid dress and the vests need to be the same color. I think they should be colors that look good together though. Our colors are pink, black, and white. My FH is wearing a white tux and his groomsmen will be in black tuxes. I am thinking I will have them wear a pink tie with either black or white vests. I am not lucky enough to have groomsmen who are all about wearing pink. And their boutaniers will be pink and white also.

Maybe instead of matching their vests with the color of the bridemaids dresses, you could match the pocket squares instead. That way if they feel it's a 'girly' color it'll only show a little bit (but still be enough to coordinate)

Well, as for me, I don't think vests should match the colors of the girls' dresses at all. So as to create contrast in the entourage wedding picture. Lol.
I think I would love to see Old Rose in them. And then some classic black on the guys. It's really classy and elegant. Don't you think? But then anyway, this is your wedding! So do whatever you want to do with it. Lol. Best wishes! ________________________ A dad never loses a daughter during her wedding Day, he just gains a son. |

I think that a good contrast in colors will really help. I agree with the classic black for the guys. That way, you concentrate more on the bride and the bride's maids.

The BM'S and GM's do not have to match my girls are wearing clover green from David's bridal and my boys are wearing Cornflower from there too. I like the contrast is brings more color to the wedding and I think Terra Cotta and Champange sound goreous together.

I agree that the BM's and GM's don't have to match exactly and I know the exact terra cotta color that you are talking about. However, I don't think it is too girly, especially when the vest is behind a black tux (or even white). I've seen many weddings where the GM's where pink - at least terra cotta wouldn't top that for girly!
